Fitchfork's redesign and new features

Fitchfork BLEU OMG!that's French for blue is finally here, and I think you'll love it! In this post I will be exploring what brought the changes about.

Fitchfork's redesign and new features

Venues all over the world, but more so South Africa, are fully booked months in advance by people hosting private events like weddings, birthday parties, engagement parties, corporate functions and so much more. Events where the glue that keeps it together is the live music that is performed on the day. It makes for a great ambience and sometimes a memorable event that will be remembered by how sore my body was the next day.

However if your circle of friends are all getting married or hosting parties months apart from each other then the chances that you will be listening to the same artists performing at most of these events are rather high. Because live performing artists are hard to find, word of mouth tend to be one of the biggest drivers of their reservations. Event hosts have no way of knowing whether an artist is trustworthy, professional, or what they actually sound like in the live environment; except for the word of their dear friends. Fitchfork aims to change all of this!

If you're an artist with an engaged following(fans on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, etc.), I have news for you:

People want to book you for their events.

According to the Entertainment and Media Outlook by PWC "live music is set to take an increasing share of total music revenue, increasing from 55% in 2016 to 62% in 2021. Live music revenue will rise from R1.2 billion in 2016 to total R1.7 billion in 2021". That's just under two billion Rand that performing artists can tap in to.

We're excited to be building the best bookings platform for artists and their hosts. And because we're about to celebrate our 2nd year (we turn 2 in April) of existence, we decided it was time to introduce a refreshed look - from new colours (OMG it's BLEU!) to a fresh logo and a couple of new features we think artists and hosts would love.

Today on behalf of the team at Fitchfork, I am here to shed light on the new products and features that is the driving factor underpinning our reimagined vision.

Things artists and hosts will find useful

Payment Infrastructure: On Fitchfork, host-to-artist payments are fully taken care of, so that you can focus on your act and we'll do the rest. We handle all charges, billing, fraud-detection, chargebacks, and every other payment-related hurdle you can think of. Gone are the days of not knowing whether the money has been paid or not.

Support:Super smart (and super nice) support team waiting with bated breath to help all artists and hosts through our real-time chat or a call or email.

Messaging System: We have introduced host-to-artist messaging to keep track of all your communications with your artist and host. All the details of your event can be discussed with your artist in one place- elegantly laid out.

Notification System: We've improved on the robustness of our notifications, now you will never not get an email or an SMS informing you of new bookings or changes to it's status.

Being able to offer these tools is equal parts awesome and motivating: awesome, because they've allowed artists and hosts to manage thier bookings already, but motivating because we know how much more we want to provide.

Redesigned Fitchfork platform

Need I say more? The entire site has been redesigned from the ground up. With the biggest motivation being ease of discovery and use; we went with a colour that is fun, a colour that you can trust, a colour called BLEU that's French for blue(OMG!!!). Host and artist timelines now focusses on what you need the most, making it ten times easier to interact with and understand - no more playing hide-and-seek with a feature. We've also introduced the verified artist badge for artists that have been vetted by our team for an accurate profile, authentic content, and having met them in person - artists we trust. You'll see the teal coloured badge next to the names of verified artists.
